About Dr. Mason-Cohen's Practice
Dr. Mason-Cohen's full time private practice is conveniently located on Daniel Island, SC with convenient access to I-526 and I-26. Dr. Mason is a participating Blue Cross and Tricare provider and she will soon be accepting Aetna.
Dr. Mason-Cohen runs a general practice with clinical services available for children, adolescents and adults. She maintains a specialized interest in working with women coping with a wide range of issues from daily mood management, life balance and self-image to relationship difficulties and parenting strategies.
Dr. Mason-Cohen adheres to a systems perspective when working with clients and recognizes that no individual exists inside a vacuum- effective treatment must incorporate the larger context of a person’s life including family, career, and community.
When working with young children, Dr. Mason-Cohen always conducts an initial parent interview to formulate a provisional diagnosis and treatment plan. The initial parent interview typically requires two office visits. Parents are kept closely involved in the treatment process and often asked to participate in parent education sessions without the child present, where behavior management techniques are introduced and practiced. Dr. Mason-Cohen is happy to consult with classroom teachers, guidance counselors, and/or school psychologists when appropriate. In special cases Dr. Mason-Cohen will travel to a child’s school to meet with school personnel and conduct a classroom observation if appropriate.
Dr. Mason-Cohen maintains a strong belief in the importance of collaboration in case management between treating professionals. She routinely consults with psychiatrists/primary care physicians/pediatricians/etc. to provide patients with optimal care and highly effective treatment planning.
Dr. Mason-Cohen accepts all forms of Blue Cross and Tricare insurance. In cases where Dr. Mason-Cohen is out of network with a particular insurance carrier, she will gladly provide receipts upon request to reflect out of pocket payments for services rendered. Patients are encouraged to submit receipts to their insurance carrier in a timely manner to ensure reimbursement.
Dr. Mason-Cohen is happy to assist patients with referrals to additional mental health providers should the need arise.
